What they're saying ... "Back in 1967, Bret Littlehales (AKA Big Boy Little) was

"These guys play blues for grown-ups." - Bill Kirchen
"Bret and I were rivals in 1967 for top dog
local harp guys. I did Bret the favor of leaving town and he and Bobby Radcliff formed the Northside Blues Band, the prototype
DC whiteboy blues band. I returned to DC in 1972 and started the Nighthawks. Now Bret's back. I guess I better tighten
up." - Mark Wenner of The Nighthawks

Blues
Jam
Format: the host band usually plays first - for about an hour and then the
jammers get up; sometimes host band closes out the night. Great way to hear
local blues talent and you never know who's going to show up: sometimes
out-of-towners and touring musicians. Of course it's also a great way to
connect with other blues-lovers and musicians, and the audience is
appreciative! Support your local blues jam and
establishments that host the jams too; come hungry & thirsty to ensure
the jams keep going!
